IT Wonders
My last adventure in IT world is using Estonian ID card for entering internet bank, checking different registers and learning how to sign document electronically. Pretty cool, I would say! Especially taking into account that Latvians still have not reached ID card and I still have to remember to take my passport when going to Latvia.
How I got there is that I fell into trap organised by political party. Before municipality elections they are organising free training on how to use ID card for elections and distributing to every participant free ID card (basically smart chip card reader). That was the catcher for me. I never bothered to buy one for 300 kroonas, but now I decided that I can survive this one hour of election campaign to get one. To my big surprise there was no propaganda during the training at all, except for the sticker with the party name on the card reader. However, I was pleased that the sticker was easily removable not like some price tags in shops :)).
And the actual trap is that I even want to participate in elections. I am allowed to elect in municipal elections. Only my motivation is kind of wrong - I simply want to try how electronic elections work. The problem is I have no idea whom to vote for since I am totally politically ignorant person, and I don't really care who is there in Tallinn municipality. It might turn out to be simply random choice :)
And one more observation: there were approximately 30 persons in the training, and out of them only 5 male.
