Jar with Jam
I have noticed one phenomenon about people that occurred today again. When I buy a single thing from foodstuff, for instance, today I bought a small jar of jam, then I do not need a plastic bag, or any sort of bag. I take the thing in my hand and go home. Actually, it doesn’t need to be jam; I have tried it also with loaf of bread, packet of juice, 1kg package of potatoes, it doesn’t make any difference. The phenomenon is that people on the street stare at me, and it kind of feels that they do it not in very positive way. They watch so like I’m carrying something very impolite or disgusting, for example, a dead rat. But it’s just a jar of jam! If I would put it into plastic bag, everything would be ok, even if the bag would be totally transparent and they could anyway see that I have bought jam. Strange…
Interesting, whether they would notice if I carry a dead rat in transparent plastic bag? I’m not going to carry out this experiment because I cannot stand dead rats myself, and I have no idea where I could get one either. Any volunteers, perhaps :))) I do not put too much hope on this, but if there is any, I am interested in results of the experiment.
There was one more phenomenon today: for a moment I saw peace of clear blue sky! That has not happened at least for last 2 weeks. It made me happy, as simple as that.

you have come across the phenomenon of created value for packaging. if something is without packaging, it is not acceptable - as if being naked. funny enough that the jar does not count - that is a storage packaging, while you need a transportation packaging. :) similarly one could say that skin is a good enough packaging, yet most people prefer some more pieces on, at least while in the public.
another issue - if the jar is present and it does not have a plastic bag (transportation packaging) around it, one could think you are going to consume it right away. and that may seem annoying for others. . . well, this time i will not develop the parallel with human being.

I think they are just busy reading & guessing what are you going to eat/drink for dinner. I do it as well - that is 1) i also bring food unpachaged (because of nature reasons - want to save one extra plastic bag :)) ) but I also stare when someone is hanging around with "naked" food. then my antropological nature comes along - I am just trying to guess what is she/he going to eat, what is the family like, what kind of person is the one with the jam. I really enjoy doing that. :)) it is not because I am curious but rather because I am feeling bored while going in public transportation or walking. :))
could this be a exoplanation?
I'm not sure of this being bored theory. If you are bored and analyze person on the basis what he/she is carrying in hand, then your gaze is not negative or even accusing and judging. Not for jar of jam, right? It cannot be anything bad what I am going to eat with jam.
If it's packaging stuff proposed by Mikelis, then I'm ready to bear those gazes and fight for this because too much packaging, especially plastic one, is no good. I do it already with shop girls, especially in Stockmann. They always want to put a packet of sour cream in a small additional plastic bag. I always say, thank you, but it's not necessary. They always say that they will put it anyway. I always say that, thank you, but it's really not necessary. Then they make a deep sight and don't put it in the bag, but grant me such looks that I am very anti-hygienic person. But I don't care about this, but feel happy for saving the world from, although small, but one more plastic bag. Because indeed it is not necessary.
