This is how beautiful is my small crime. I bought an onion of amaryllis in Amsterdam in January, and I brought it home. Bringing home is where the crime element comes in because it is not allowed to carry plants across the borders, so basically I smuggled it. Especially because I travelled home through London, and it is categorically forbidden to bring in or out any plants or food items to and from the island of Great Britain. I took care of it and hid my nice amaryllis onion in the very bottom of suitcase.
The result is worth effort, isn't it?! (Don't forget that smuggling is the smallest part: after that you have to plant the onion and water it from time to time, which altogether is more tricky than smuggling).
By the way, it was supposed to be single layered (with only 6 petals) and completely white with very small thin line around the edge :)). Be ready for surprises when buying tulip and amaryllis onions from street markets in Amsterdam!
