It turned out that Carmen Kass didn't help: Tallinn lost, and Chess Olympiad 2008 will be held in Dresden. I'm a bit disappointed.

I left work party, went to shop and bought half kilo of lemons, 300 grams of onions and cranberry jam. How does it sound? Yes, I'm ill.......

Neighbours II

And I'm sure that neighbours downstairs think that it's me who has terrible music taste. There is no right answer.

Neighbours

My neighbours downstairs have just terrible music taste. Moreover, they like it loud. And I have no other way than to turn my own music even louder to stop hearing anything from below. Sometimes I use headphones, but I don't find it very comfortable. Neighbours next door - I'm really sorry for you...

First Aid II

Still no mouth-to-mouth breathing: it will be next week, which will be last first aid lesson -practical exercises. But I have to correct a serious mistake in my earlier post: my theory on lungs was outdated and one should not touch lungs either if they are out. But to be honest, it's hard to imagine a situation when they are out, and most probably there is very little one can help then. But If lungs are still in, but there is a hole in body leading to lungs, then this hole should be definitely closed to preserve breathing function - keep that in mind!
Do you also have a feeling that I'm getting too excited about all this first aid stuff? - kind of freaky again...

If I only knew why I feel soooooooooo tired. But I don't.
Oh, now it's time to go to sleep. I have a peculiar way to know this time: there is a girl who used to be my coursemate in university long long time ago. And then she left for U.S., and since then I have never talked to her in messenger, but she's still in my contacts list. When she signs in (as she did a minute ago), then I know that it's time to get some sleep. And that's a good reason to have her in contact list: Pomarnevskaya Entertainment :)
Only I almost never go to sleep at this time, I just know that this would be the right time.

Chestnuts in pocket

Every autumn I have a fight with street sweepers: why do they collect all leaves and put them into waste bins? And even more: they do the same with chestnuts!!! That's a crime! They do not leave any chestnut for people (read "me") to pick up!
I love to discover a street with lots and lots of leaves because sound of walking into pile of autumn leaves is so nice, especially in a city.
I would like to be there before street sweepers and collect that many chestnuts that nothing more fits into my pockets. But street sweepers always win for that simple reason that they get up early, and I am hopeless sleepy-head. And this morning I had no hope what so ever: I opened my eyes at 9.47 (yes, I overslept this work place for the first time and did it properly).
Nevertheless, I have managed to steel some chestnuts from them, and some of those some chestnuts are everywhere: in pockets, in handbags, on shelfs, on my desk, luckily not in a coffee cup. Like every autumn.

Btw, does anybody know why there are no red leaves this year, and neither was last year? only golden ones. My previous theory was that cold and frost makes leaves to turn red, but this theory obviously failed this year.

Welcome to ESTonia. Again. And again.

Today I received my Estonian ID-card, the third one. This time they granted 5 year living permit for me and did it fast, and I love EU in this respect.
So, now I am legaly accepted here and welcome to ESTonia!
I wonder when Latvia will finally come up with ID-card for its citizens and residents... I find it amusing that I have already had 3 Estonian ID-cards (actually I still have all 3 of them, which is adding to fun part), but none of Latvian.

Empirical evidence II

Empirical evidence shows that majority of people associate first aid with mouth-to-mouth breathing: this was the first thing everybody mentioned when I said that I'm going to first aid courses. Actually this comes only in third lesson :)

Immature

Now also Siim is talking about house, colleague is building a sauna, some other friend is discussing if Adazi is a good place for house or not. It seems like EVERYBODY in Baltic latitude and altitude is dreaming of having a house! ok, ok, I'm exaggerating, but actually not that much. I am not dreaming of having a house, I really don't. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm some freak (definition of the freak: a person or animal that is markedly unusual or deformed) or smth, or total outsider. But then I remember golden words on the cover of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: "DON'T PANIC".
Perhaps I'm just immature, but it explains something only if getting a house or at least having a dream about it shows some stage of life. And this is not necessarily the case.
Whatever it be, currently there is only one thing that I dream about, but this I'm not going to announce publicly (and even no chupa-chups prize guesses this time). and when I get it (if I get it) then we will see. There is always smth to dream about. no panic.

Today I could finally get into shop and buy fresh food since last Wednesday: hullud päevad or crazy shopping days are over. And tons of toilet paper are gone. Till next time.

October 17, 2004

I just have had an excellent weekend! There are only few things left to do: finish my ice-cream, read a book, go to bath and perhaps watch movie. And then sleep! Sounds good, doesn't it?

I'm just terrible at being city girl. Already for more than two weeks I am every single day forgetting to call and arrange hairdresser, can you imagine this!!! Horrible! Every morning I look into mirror and decide that today I will certainly remember to call. I cannot call right a way in the morning as they are closed that early. ... and then in the evening I came home, look into mirror and remember that again I have forgotten this. They do not work that late either.
Of course during the day I'm also looking into mirrors, there is huge one in elevator, and big size mirror in the toilet and some more here and there, but during the day it just somehow never pops up into my mind.
It's not that there is smth terrible on my head, at least I do not think so :)), but I anyway want to go to hairdresser as I haven't done it for some while. However I cannot, because I just keep forgetting... Girl cannot forget hairdresser! definitely not for 2 weeks! So, I'm hopeless case.

No champagne, oh sorry, sparkling wine (because champagne is only the one from some province in France) tomorrow because I had a bet with my collaegue on result of Latvia-Estonia football match. To my big regret, Latvia did not win, but it did not loose either as it ended up with result 2:2.
However, second half of the game was quite interesting. Thanks to Maret and EUFA Euro 2004 for creating my interest in football! Up to last summer I thought that's its boring game which always ends up with score 0:0, so there is no use watching it...

And if we really want, we can anyway find some reason for sparkling wine :))

Most intriguing news today

I was watching sports news and got to know that soon they will chose a home city for Chess Olympiad in 2008. There are two candidates: Dresden in Germany and Tallinn in Estonia. They claimed that odds are in favor of Tallinn and mainly due to person of Estonian Chess Federation president - Carmen Kass.
I am intrigued to see whether Tallinn will win.

Last night I was brought back far away to early years in university dorms or school summer camps... That's the "dark" talk where you need several girls getting to sleep in one room, and the best time to talk is just after the lights are switched off. Of course, we talk also before, but in dark it is special. At first I actively participate, then I only listen, and then I somewhere lose the track. That's a very good way to get to sleep. from time to time.

Today I learned that the best thing to wear when a lady is going to a battle on the island of Great Britain during winter in early medieval age (around year 400-500) is like this. I just keep wondering where those Hollywood guys take ideas for costumes...
As a result movie was a funny entertainment, and I actually enjoyed it :)

First...

Today was the FIRST day in the official autumn this year when it did not rain at all. There was not a single drop from the skies. Amazing!
I put on gloves for the FIRST time in this autumn. It's getting cold out there.
I made my FIRST cake in the place where I'm living for the time being. Oven test results: it works.
I had some more serious experience with Photoshop for the FIRST time. To be honest, it would have been much more difficult if not for distance tutoring from Kaido.
For the FIRST time I participated in
photo competition.
And, of course, it's FIRST October already.

and AGAIN it's far to late when I'm going to bed.
