Sometimes it's good to be ill

Although I was fighting hard against storm of viruses all around here in Estonia, I finally had to surrender and stay at home last Friday. So it remained for the whole weekend, and, selfish as I am, I was not very disappointed to hear that Estonian Independence Day army parade was canceled due to too cold weather. I couldn't have seen it anyway. Besides, I discovered that not too hard illness can actually be good. "Not-too-hard" means such illness which presses to stay at home but allows engaging into activities that do not require almost any physical activity. For example, reading articles & book what I long ago wanted to read. More importantly, it was looking through photos. As a result, our wedding album is finally ready after more than half a year. Also, pictures from skiing trip got sorted out, and you can have a look at them!

63km in 7h 15min

Juhuuu! I managed to get through Tartu maraton on Sunday. It's 63km cross-country skiing and my time was 7:15:05.8 to be very precise :) The best guy finished in 2h and 42 minutes, so I did it almost 3 times longer :)) That's about expectations with as little training as I managed with snow coming so late. And 63km is about maximum what I would be able to do for the time being. The most difficult part is actually now with my leg muscles aching, especially for the office person to sit down on chair and to raise from it. Today I survived, but tomorrow should be even more fun, as they say that 2nd day is the worst. Will see...
So, what else should I do this winter?! Have been to mountains, 63km cross-country marathon is also done. Spring can come now!

...

Here is a proof why I have been silent for some while: we went to mountains!!! French Alps, to be specific, and Val Thorens to be even more precise.

For first time it is necessary to go at least for 4 days to start to enjoy it. First 2 days everything is aching partly because of falling but mainly because muscles protest against doing something what they are not used to do. On the 3rd day it's a recovery, and on the 4th day I started really to enjoy it. Altogether we went for 6 days, and it was really great!

Down there is the Val Thorens village where we lived. If you look very carefully at the table in front of the picture, then it says "Mont Blanc". Yes indeed, the highest peak at the background is the one - highest mountain in Europe :)
